Promenade resurfacing

The Next Wave regeneration project is nearing completion and one of the final jobs is to resurface the remaining areas of the promenade.

This means that sections of the seafront from the Colonnade moving east towards the Rowing Social Club / public toilets will have to be closed for short periods of time.

West Parade 2

However, most of West Parade promenade will remain open while these works are taking place.

This resurfacing will begin on September 5 and the whole stretch should be finished by the end of the month, assuming there are no unforeseen delays and weather permitting.

Resin bonded gravel will be laid to replace the worn concrete and match the rest of the new seafront development.

Four separate sections will take around a week each to resurface and the closures will happen in stages.  Home owners will be told by the council when work is happening outside their properties.

Remaining work on the project includes the seafront shelter bases and the area around the Colonnade.
