Next Wave News - October 2010. Promenade Closure

Promenade Closure, West Parade - Monday 18th October

The west promenade at Bexhill will be closed from Monday 18th October for a minimum of 4 weeks. This is to allow English Landscapes, our contractor on this part of the Next Wave scheme, to repair the sea wall, resurface the promenade and renew railings.

West Prom

This section of promenade runs from the kiosk (current site office) to the toilets adjacent to Richmond Road.

The promenade will be resurfaced in three phases; tarmac will be laid which then needs a period of approximately one week to settle, this will limit the activity of the contractors. Finally, a resin bonded surfacing will be laid. This element is dependent on conditions and cannot be laid during wet weather. During the same period the seawall will be pressure-washed and repaired and new railings will be installed.

Access to the Sovereign Light Café will be available from the highway and the West Parade toilets will remain open for the vast majority of the time. Beach access from this area will not be possible during the resurfacing works. Signage will be in place advising seafront users of the closure.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused during this closure.
