English Landscapes begin West Parade Landscape Works.

Works to the west promenade from the religious garden to the public toilets opposite Richmond Road will begin on Monday 10th May.

The area which currently includes the religious garden, wishing well and sundial will be cleared to accommodate welfare provisions, operations and a site compound.

The area of promenade from the public toilets to the Sovereign Light Café will constitute the first phase of works to construct new garden rooms and resurfacing of the promenade. The proposed designs can be seen here.

Image depicting West Parade 2English Landscapes have been awarded the contract to complete works along the west promenade. This includes resurfacing of approx. 700m of promenade, creation of garden rooms, replacement of sea wall railings and installation of new furniture an play equipment.

Access along the promenade will be retained although the width of promenade will be narrowed at various intervals. Some parking will be suspended adjacent to the site compound and the garden areas.

A trial of surfacing material is currently taking place on the promenade between the two shelters west of the current kiosk. We will update you as to whether a period of closure of the promenade will be necessary to enable the contractor to resurface the length of the site. No decision has been taken at the moment. Access to the beach and highway will be possible from certain points at the West Parade toilets and the site compound (previously Religious Garden).
