Next Wave Partners
The development of the Next Wave scheme has seen the involvement of various different organisations and initiatives. Below is an outline of how they were involved and what they do... CABE stands for the The Commission of Architecture and the Built Environment. It is the government's advisor on architecture, urban design and public space. CABE work with architects, planners, designers, developers and clients, offering them guidance on projects that will shape lives and encourage policymakers to create places that are safe, beautiful and efficient to run. In November 2008 Rother District Council was awarded a £1million government grant under the SeaChange programme. This grant is administered by CABE and the project will also benefit from the design review service and CABE Space consultation exercises. For more details on the CABE Spaceshaper workshop which was held in Bexhill on the 6th June, click here. Sea Change aims to drive cultural and creative regeneration and economic growth in seaside resorts by funding inspiring, creative and innovative projects, bringing a sense of pride, enjoyment and celebration. It's objectives are: To back investment plans from seaside resorts in culture, heritage and public space, which could act as a catalyst to support regeneration of the resort To boost confidence and pride in the local community To share learning between local authorities and other partners exploring ways to support seaside resorts via culture and heritage To ensure that our investment is matched by other partners so that we maximise the benefit of our funding. The De La Warr Pavilion is identified by Bexhill's leading cultural asset and the project draws its inspiration from the design qualities of the Pavilion, with the ambition to create a cohesive seafront area. The De La Warr Pavilion have been consulted at all stages of the projects development and are represented on the Project's Steering Group involved in many of the key decisions affecting the project.
HTA Landscape were appointed as lead architects on the Next Wave project in June 2009. They will develop the design framework and lead a team of sub-consultants and contractors through implementation of both Phase 1 and Phase 2 of the scheme.
